about

This song was written for a film made to mark the 5th Anniversary of the floods that hit Cockermouth, and Cumbria, on the 19th of November 2009.

'5 Years On, How Far We've Come' is a documentary made by Sophia Atcha of Write Back Atcha Films. Sophia has been a frequent visitor to the town of Cockermouth and moved here in 2011. She wanted to do something to mark the anniversary, and to acknowledge the strength of the community in Cockermouth after being impressed at our resilience and determination to repair the town, not just physically but emotionally, in the months and years after the devastating events of November the 19th 2009.

All profits from this download will go to two charities who voluntarily gave us their time and help, directly in the rescue operation and supportively in the months that followed.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue, to say a small thank you for their life saving work, every day. Particularly with the flood rescue in mind, thank you. The work that you all do, (and alongside a day job!), is inspiring.

The Kirkgate Centre re-development fund, to thank them for providing ongoing support with their regular 'flood socials' after the event, and their continuing commitment to bringing international music, varied events, workshops and interesting films to Cockermouth.

The image is a photograph taken by Sophia Atcha of the beautiful art work that the children of Cockermouth and surrounding ares produced at the 5 Yrs On, How Far we've Come, art workshops that Sophia organised at Wild Zucchinis with Celine Moussier, Coffee Kitchen with Cheryl Scale and Bothel Primary School with Head Master Andy May. The overall collage was creatively arranged and worked on by Artist, Celine Moussier.
